1. How has NAIOP helped you develop new business?
Regional conferences and educational seminars have helped me tie trends, clients and projects into the local market. The subject matter and adaptability of information has been beneficial in expanding my regional understanding of the industry’s critical issues that influence the local market. These venues also provide immense marketing opportunities by interacting with key decision makers in the region.
2. I am an NAIOP member because…
I wanted to expand my knowledge of the Commercial Real Estate industry beyond just designing buildings. Having an understanding of what is important to the success of a product type, knowing the critical constraints associated with “the deal” and learning a client’s business model ultimately helps me understand the client and their individual needs. Utilizing NAIOP for industry related information has been a reliable resource for current and historical information.
3. How did you first get into the industry?
I have wanted to be an architect since I was in sixth grade. I have no idea where it came from and there is nothing in my family that would have lead me to it. I was pretty simple for the guidance counselors from then on because all throughout middle school, high school and college it was a simple response for what I wanted to do – “I want to be an architect.” From then on, it has been the singular focus of my career path.
4. What person, living or dead, would you most like to meet?
In light of all the recent political “stuff,” I would like to meet any of the founding fathers and ask them “Is this what you had in mind?”
5. Where will you be in 20 years?
Drinking coffee in some little sidewalk café in a city where I don’t know the language – and smiling.
