Name: Michael E. McGettigan, P.E.
Title: Managing Partner
Company: McGettigan Consulting LLC

Years in the Industry: 22

Where are you originally from and how long have you lived in Las Vegas?
I am originally from Philadelphia, land of cheese steaks, hoagies, and home of the Phillie Phanatic – best mascot in all of sports. After earning my Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering from Drexel University, I lived in Atlanta, North Jersey, Philadelphia, Las Vegas (2002-2003), and Washington DC. I have lived in Las Vegas continuously since 2006. It is nice having the Vegas kid Bryce Harper playing for the Phillies now.

What has NAIOP provided you that has helped you grow professionally or personally?
I have been a member of NAIOP for 14 years. I have been fortunate to make many friends by being a part of NAIOP. The last four and a half years, after starting my own business in 2015, have shown me how lucky I am to be a part of such a great organization.

What has been your favorite experience or story that happened at a NAIOP event?
My favorite experience at a NAIOP event – that’s easy.  The NAIOP golf tournament in 2013 and playing with Travis Schultz and Mike Nibert. Mike hits the hole-in-one at Red Rock Country Club for $10,000.  That was an excellent day.  I have not missed a NAIOP golf outing since.

Who have you met at a NAIOP event that has influenced you or that you have become close friends with?
Everyone I have interacted with has influenced me. I hope I have had a positive influence on NAIOP members. I have worked with 28 current NAIOP sponsors on all types of projects.

What do you want your legacy to be in the Southern Nevada community?
Legacy – other people will determine what my legacy is. I just want to do excellent work for excellent clients and spend the rest of my time raising my three daughters, loving my wife and being a good friend.

Where are you originally from and how long have you lived in Las Vegas?
I am originally from Chicago, IL, but have lived in Las Vegas since 2001.

What has NAIOP provided you that has helped you grow professionally or personally?
As a newer member, I am hoping to take advantage of the Developing Leaders Institute training in the near future. In addition, I have enjoyed the connections I have made at the monthly breakfast meetings.

What has been your favorite experience or story that happened at a NAIOP event?
The breakfast presentations that have focused on specific local projects have been extremely informative. It is great to see how the city of Las Vegas and surrounding areas are expanding! Working in the construction industry, it is always great to see that our contractors have plenty of work available, which in turn provides a variety of jobs to the community from the construction phases all the way through to the finished products!

Who have you met at a NAIOP event that has influenced you or that you have become close friends with?
It is always great to see my existing clients at NAIOP events along with the ability to make new connections. What I think I enjoy most is the welcoming environment from everyone there and the active member participation. I look forward to meeting more people each month!

What do you want your legacy to be in the Southern Nevada community?
I would like for those that have worked with me to be able to describe my passion for helping others and the enthusiasm I have for being involved in a variety of different groups that help create a stronger economy in our city!
