Over the past year or so, I have been researching office environments and particularly the paradox of the “Open Office.” The “Open Office” concept has expanded to include other attributes, influencers and characteristics (more than just cubicles) and has become more of a state of mind in the work place. The “Google-ization” of the office environment introduced concepts that would make Don Draper and Roger Sterling run into their offices and lock their doors. “Open Office” now encompasses the image, the branding of a company, the workflow process of an organization, the technology prowess of a company, the hours of the company and even to a point, the age of its employees and managers. Dear Fellow Members:

It’s hard to believe the first quarter of 2017 is coming to a close. As this year begins to fly by, NAIOP Southern Nevada has had an action packed first few months.

We started off the year with the well attended and informative Forecast 2017 event held in cooperation with the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies, Lee Business School, UNLV. At this year’s event we had the renowned real estate economist, Dr. Mark Dotzour speak regarding the national economic outlook for commercial real estate and Thomas J. Bisacquino, President and CEO of NAIOP national to speak about the organization and national issues. We also had a stellar local commercial market panel discussion moderated by John Restrepo. The Community Service Committee would like to thank everyone who donated plastic shopping bags at the last two breakfast meetings.  They are in the process of being turned into plarn and crocheted into sleeping mats to help homeless youth living on the streets. Read more

The Developing Leaders Institute Committee is pleased to announce the DLI Application was released on March 20th. NAIOP’s Developing Leaders Institute is a 12-month curriculum of leadership and real estate training taught by the leading professionals from the Southern Nevada real estate and development industry especially for the emerging NAIOP members.  Applications are due on Friday, July 14, 2017.
