President’s Message – January 2024

Dear NAIOP Members,

I’d like to briefly share my vision for 2024 with you by sharing what NAIOP means to me and my ask of our members.

To me, NAIOP is more than the commercial estate development association. NAIOP is a community of like-minded professionals who want to make an impact. You are members because your willingness to join this chapter is seen and your financial support is appreciated.

NAIOP provides access to NEWS, ADVOCACY, INFORMATION, OPPORTUNITIES and PEOPLE. NAIOP!

To me, NAIOP is the source of the latest CRE NEWS. We are consistently pushing the latest news and information to your inbox or across our social media platforms. Thank you, Chantal and the entire Communications committee.

To me, NAIOP is ADVOCACY! Our aggressive government affairs efforts yield results for our community. In 2023, we took a quantum leap by hiring our own in-house government affairs coordinator and awarded our first Developers Champion Award. Thank you, Steve and your entire GA committee.

To me, NAIOP is INFORMATION. We put on timely and relevant breakfast programs and education programs throughout the year on issues that impact your bottom line and our community. We focus on providing access to the experts, developers, knowledge and tools that help us do more business together. Thank you Dan and the entire programs committee, Jennifer and the education committee, and Jake & Jerry with the Bus Tour committee.

To me, NAIOP is OPPORTUNITIES. We offer countless opportunities to network with industry professionals via our membership mixers, summer mixers, Spotlight Awards and various other events throughout the year. These network opportunities provide visibility to everyone, seasoned and new to the industry. They provide opportunities to strengthen existing relationships and start new ones as well. I can tell you that I haven’t made any major decisions in my professional life without consulting with several of our esteemed members. We are very fortunate to have such a strong and close-knit CRE industry in our community. Thank you to the membership committee, community service committee, golf tournament committee, Spotlight Awards and sponsorships committees for bringing us together.

To me, NAIOP is PEOPLE. Look at the people in our membership. We get to meet, learn and work with some of the most respected people in the industry. NAIOP provides us access to elected officials, policy makers, developers, property managers, lenders, brokers, asset managers, general contractors, subcontractors, industry vendors, and so many more. We also advance our people through our DLI & DOLI programs. Thank you to the DLI committee, DOLI committee and all of the committee chairs and committee members for making this happen.

So, my ask for all of you this year is to think about ways to increase your involvement within the local and national NAIOP organization. I’m proud to say that my involvement at both the local and national level has helped me in so many ways both personally and professionally. By increasing my involvement within the chapter and strengthening my relationships it’s given me the confidence to keep growing knowing that I have a strong network of people around me who support me.

So, say YES more in 2024! Say yes to volunteering! Say yes to new opportunities! Say yes to attending more, doing more and being more! We’re not surviving until 2025, we’re going to THRIVE until 2025!

Join one of our committees and step up. And, the National NAIOP Conference is being held right here in Las Vegas in 2024! I’d love to see our membership show up. Mark your calendars now for October 8-10th at Caesars Palace. Let’s show up and let the rest of the NAIOP chapters know what NAIOP Southern Nevada is about.
