Guten Tag! Oktoberfest- NAIOP’s Social Event of the Year, held on September 22nd was a tremendous success. Members and non-members alike came together at Hofbrauhaus Las Vegas for food, drinks, networking, and fun. The party began at 5pm with guests entering the Biergarten while being greeted by members outfitted in Lederhosen. Takeaway gifts provided by Martin-Harris Construction as well as Bavarian checkered and German Alpine hats were handed to guests to get everyone in the spirit. A photo booth sponsored by Design Builders gave guests the opportunity to take a photo in a green pasture with props consisting of steins, accordions, “I HEART BIER!” and “OOM PA PA!” signs. NAIOP Southern Nevada expresses our deepest sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of 1997 NAIOP Southern Nevada President, Tim Snow, this past month. Snow committed countless hours to our chapter and was instrumental in elevating the prominence of NAIOP statewide. Read more

The Great Recession created a gravely negative impact on Southern Nevada business and industry, especially in the areas of real estate and development. Now, eight years later, the market is coming back with a fury. Nowhere was that more evident than at NAIOP Southern Nevada’s September Luncheon featuring a developer panel of experts from the region. September was an active month for the Community Service Committee. We delivered a truckload of school supplies along with $1000 in cash donations to Howard Hollingsworth Elementary all collected at our August ‘Back-to-School’ drive. Nomination application for the NAIOP Southern Nevada Chapter Board vacancies are open from this date until September 15, 2016.

There are six (6) Board positions open for the two-year term beginning January 1, 2017. The total number of directors is 15 for the year 2017. Below is a list of the current Board members that will stand for re-election if they so desire and the directors remaining on the board.  Pursuant to the By-Laws, the Election Committee is charged with setting the slate of nominees. The Developing Leaders Institute (DLI) is NAIOP Southern Nevada’s premier program offered to young professionals. This year long commitment is both practical and hands-on, featuring mandatory monthly classes taught by respected veteran industry professionals commencing with a final group project and presentation.  My fellow class members and I have taken account of what we have learned and experienced, how it helps our future careers and the fun we’ve had along the way.  This class inevitably solidifies a determination for success in your field of work. But even better than that are the awesome relationships that you create along the way and that may continue even beyond our careers. Read more
