You are probably seasoned in real estate development and you have done this many times and you think you know what to expect but you cannot expect the unexpected! Population and economic growth in Clark County has put a strain on the county’s roads and highways, leading to increased traffic congestion and longer commute times. By 2025, Clark County is expected to grow to 2.7 million people, along with more than 53.1 million visitors traveling to Las Vegas. It is imperative that we meet the transportation needs of our growing community. Question 5, Fix Our Roads, asks voters to continue Fuel Revenue Indexing for the next 10 years. Voting yes will mean funding more roadway projects to continue creating jobs, reducing congestion, maintaining our roads, and improving safety on our local streets and highways. Read more

Dear Members,
Summer is upon us and I’m sure everyone is juggling a heavy workload with summer vacations and kids out of school. NAIOP continues to plan and provide great programs so I hope that everyone can make the time to take advantage. We have had great turnout at our monthly breakfast/lunch meetings which featured great topics such as the solar energy, medical marijuana industries, and advanced manufacturing industries. Over the past decade, being a successful private company in Southern Nevada meant being able to quickly adapt to rapidly changing economic conditions. May 2016 – NAIOP Southern Nevada, the commercial real estate development association, announced the results of a study that illustrates the impact of land constraints on economic development in Southern Nevada. The study, undertaken by Alan Schlottmann of the Theodore Roosevelt Institute, shows that under the restraints imposed by the Bureau of Land Management’s recent Draft Resource Management Plan, economic growth in the Las Vegas valley will be restricted and hinder the future growth of our economy. ICSC Recon 2016 proved the retail real estate market is recovering globally. As the world’s largest gathering of shopping center executives, the May 2016 convention had the highest turn out of attendees post-recession with more than 36,000 retail real estate executives and over 1,000 exhibitors from around the world. National retail tenants, developers, investors and brokers swarmed the convention floors looking to make personal connections in order to get deals started, advanced or completed. Read more
WHAT IS THE NAIOP FORUM ANYWAY?
You may have heard about the NAIOP forum in passing, or at your last dinner conversation, and wondered what exactly is the NAIOP National Forum (the “Forum”)? I would love to tell you!
The Forum is another way that NAIOP adds value to your membership. I have been a member for over two years now and I have discovered valuable information from our industry by attending biannual Forum meetings. I am a member in the Real Estate Trends 1 Forum and have developed close relationships with my Forum members over the past several years. I know that I can call on any one of the members with questions related to my business and have a confidential resource to discuss my ideas. Read more
There are as many design concepts and visions in space planning as there are designers but let’s face it, what we all really want in this profession is to close the deal!
The faster the overall team can agree on a design layout that works, the sooner that deal can happen. This applies to ground-up projects as well as tenant improvements in all market areas.
Street Teens is one of the many organizations that NAIOP Southern Nevada supports. Our members have actively been involved with Street Teens over the past 6-7 years, specifically in collecting financial donations and supplies as well as providing time in helping with projects at the local Street Teens office and shelter. During the May 2016 breakfast meeting, NAIOP members donated over $1200 as well as much needed supplies for the teens. Read more
